Carroll County: 300 South Center Street
ABA has been awarded the 300 South Center Street project by Carroll County's Bureau of Building Construction located in Westminster, Maryland. David Morin, AIA, an ABA Associate and Project Manager will oversee the complete renovation of a 33,600SF old school building into new county offices for Parks and Recreations, CHANGE, Inc. and the Board of Elections. The project will include office areas, conference rooms, new elevator, new loading dock and storage spaces, and gym renovations. ABA is providing full A/E services.



MANNA HOUSE: OPEN HOUSE APRIL 21st

Manna House's opening was April 21, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. The Mayor and other dignitaries were invited, including Head of the Homeless Services. Amos Bailey Arnold was able to be a part of this project by providing architectural services. Seeing how important this charity is to Baltimore, Amos Bailey Arnold wanted to contribute by giving full CA services free. The project has been highly commended and that is due in part because of our Fred Fox's efforts toward this project. Southway Builders was another key player in the construction. Manna House is a soup kitchen, shelter, and safe environment for those in need. Not only does Manna House feed and shelter people, it provides counseling and testing services for HIV.



ABA Leaders Speak Out About Arts Professions

Laurie Dickeson, AIA, Associate spoke at Career Day for the Academy for College and Career Exploration, a specialized Baltimore City High School. She spoke about the architectural profession and the skills and educational background required to be an architect.

Jim Arnold, AIA, Vice President attended the Arts Industry Academy visioning session. Professionals from a variety of fields in the arts, staff and young people gave input on what the school can become. The focus was to find insight on how the school can use the community to teach the youth about the arts and open doors of opportunities for careers. This session was the first, another Visionary Session is being scheduled at a later date.

Dan Bailey, AIA, President recently gave a speech at the annual wrestling banquet for the Woodlawn Recreation Council. There were over a hundred parents and children in attendance. Mr. Bailey gave a sports/academic related talk.



CFO Knows How to Put Out Fires
Our very own Becky Tims was able to participate in a once in a lifetime opportunity, to be a fireman. The Sykesville -- Freedom District Fire Department recruited people of all ages to spend the day learning what firemen do. A selected few were able to spend the whole weekend, during the day at the Carroll County Fire Training Center in Westminster and at night at the actual firehouse. For Becky this was more than a learning experience.

Condominium Conversion in Whitman, Mass

Amos Bailey Arnold was recently awarded an additional condominium
conversion in Whitman Massachusetts following its recent work on another
condominium conversion within the same town. The new project will
involve the restoration of a residential complex built in the 1700's.



New Cape Cod Mixed-Use Development

ABA Architects has been hired to design a new urban condominium community on Main Street adjacent to Hyannis Historic District. 63 European "flats" are stacked above one level of retail street frontage, four landscaped courtyards and structured parking for 95 cars. The new development is a five minute walk from historic Hyannis Harbor where the ferries dock for shuttles to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
